To strengthen our Burckhardt Compression Service Centre in the UK we are looking for a

 

Service Operations Manager

 

The focus of the position is on managing the UK Services operations activities and on providing technical and commercial support to ensure that compressors are serviced and/or repaired to the highest quality standards in time to meet our clients’ schedule for on-site servicing and overhaul of their compressors. The main requirements and responsibilities of the position shall include the following:

  • Managing office-based and field-based Services operations staff (around 20 employees)
  • Planning Services operations activities, resources and the associated logistics
  • Providing first-line technical support on company and third party products
  • Providing ad-hoc technical and commercial support to Services sales team engineers and other Services operations staff throughout the Company
  • Reviewing technical/commercial proposals for compressor maintenance contracts, major component repairs, compressor revamps or workshop overhaul proposals in response to client RFQs in conjunction with Services sales team engineers
  • Controlling project/contract management of maintenance contracts, compressor revamps, major repairs and compressor overhauls to meet customer demands
  • Controlling outsourcing of specialist component repairs to sub-suppliers to meet quality, cost and delivery requirements
  • Controlling all workshop projects and outsourced spare parts and components to meet quality and specification requirements including inspection and testing
  • Controlling supply chain management for all purchased parts, materials and equipment including logistics
  • Controlling order-to-cash process for all Services operations to ensure business health and continuity

You have completed a standard engineering education to Degree or HND/HNC level and ideally also concluded a recognised craft apprenticeship. You possess minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical equipment and service experience and have several years of Management experience.  Knowledge of large reciprocating compressors or rotating equipment (such as large centrifugal compressors, pumps, gas or steam turbines, marine or large industrial diesel engines) and their auxiliary systems would be advantageous although specific company product training would be provided

You have a passion for customer focus, a strong service orientation and possess excellent interpersonal skills. You are of a reliable and communicative nature and have strong analytical and organizational skills. A high degree of independence, communication skills in discussions with colleagues and clients and a highly developed quality conscience are characterizing your personality. You are familiar with the following IT applications (MS-Office; SAP; CRM)
