December 02, 2010 | Ad hoc announcement pursuant to Art. 53 LR
Valentin Vogt to become new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Burckhardt Compression
Valentin Vogt is set to succeed Hans Hess as Chairman of the Board of Directors on April 1, 2011. Marcel Pawlicek will assume the position of CEO on this same date. Mr. Pawlicek is already a member of the Executive Board and he has managed various functions within Burckhardt Compression in Switzerland and abroad during the past 21 years.
In order to have sufficient time for his new duties as President of Swissmem, Hans Hess has decided to resign his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Burckhardt Compression on March 31, 2011, but he will still retain a seat on the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors of Burckhardt Compression nominated Valentin Vogt, the current CEO, to serve as its new Chairman with effect from April 1, 2011. The Board also appointed Marcel Pawlicek, currently an Executive Board member and Head of Design & Manufacturing, as the new CEO likewise effective April 1, 2011. His successor will be determined and communicated at the appropriate time within the coming months.
New CEO has more than 20 years of management experience
Marcel Pawlicek (born 1963) has been Head of Design & Manufacturing since 2008. He has managed various functions within Burckhardt Compression in Switzerland and abroad during the past 21 years, for instance as head of the company’s US compressor systems sales force and as head of the group-wide Customer Support Service (CSS) activities. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from Winterthur Polytechnic and earned an MBA from Fordham University in New York during his assignment in the USA. The new CEO is married and lives in Winterthur.
Hans Hess said the following regarding his successor: “Valentin Vogt has been prudent and successful in managing the Group as CEO since 2000. The management buyout in 2002 and the successful listing of our company on the stock market took place during this time. Burckhardt Compression increased its sales significantly in recent years and achieved higher-than-average margins. Valentin Vogt is thus the ideal person to maintain the company’s strategic continuity as Chairman of the Board.”
Valentin Vogt’s statement about the newly appointed CEO: “Marcel Pawlicek has many years of experience in various management and leadership functions at Burckhardt Compression and is, therefore, very familiar with all the particularities of our business. This predestined him to assume operating management responsibility for the group as CEO. I am confident that Burckhardt Compression’s success story will continue under his leadership and I look forward to our future collaboration.”
