Enhancing energy security by giving compressors a new lease of life

To enhance Europe’s gas supply security and reduce pipeline reliance, cost-efficient FSRUs are being used as temporary measures until new LNG terminals are ready.

A leading maritime energy firm was asked by European nations to station multiple FSRUs for energy independence. Two vessels feature Burckhardt Compression Laby® Compressors, which, due to limited use, necessitated comprehensive checks. Our service offer included our revamp and consultancy capabilities, starting with a pre-inspection to establish the work required.

What our customer says

“Your team understood the assignment and they executed the task within a tight timeframe. The compressor start-up was a great achievement and stands as a testament to your expertise and dedication. Furthermore, the thorough overhaul the team conducted eliminated the persistent vibration issues, ensuring optimal functionality.“

Customer challenges:

  • One FSRU required to be operational within three
    months
  • Limited use led to an uncertain scope of work
  • Issues discovered with auxiliaries, incl. antivibration
pads, electric motor, and safety valves
  • Rusted anti-vibration pads caused stress on the
    compressor
  • Need for one single service company to provide a
