Overhaul of four non-Burckhardt compressors helps steel mill becoming green
One of Europe's most significant steelmaking companies needed quick help to revive four non-Burckhardt compressors that had not been used in 10 years.
The company turns one of its plants into a sustainable steelmaking plant fulfilling all environmental regulations set by the region, the country and the EU. They contacted the OEM and Burckhardt Compression for support. The customer works under a strict time schedule, tight budget and experts are needed for the overhaul of the compressors including auxiliary equipment such as motors and coolers. The company chose Burckhardt Compression because of our expert knowledge of compressors and auxiliary equipment.
The most challenging issue during the project execution was the fact that the gas turbine fed by the compressors could not operate within the conditions of the original design. The requested overhaul of four compressors was extended to also include a discharge pressure increase. Thanks to our global network of experts and broad knowledge in our organization, we could help the customer without any impact on the turnaround schedule.
